“Flattening the Curve” for COVID-19

We’ve heard “Flattening the Curve” throughout numerous discussions related to COIVD-19, yet many don’t quite understand what “Flattening the Curve” truly means. It is a term used to explain a method that public health professionals are attempting to achieve. A large number of individuals getting sick all at once in a short period of time forms a sharp spike in the curve, overwhelming healthcare systems. The hope is that strict measures such as social distancing will help stretch out the infection rate over a longer period of time, hence flattening the curve. While many may still get sick, it will be at a rate that can be effectively handled by healthcare professionals, which in turn will help mitigate mortality.

As we learn more about the plan to “Flatten the Curve,” we ask that everyone do their part to ensure a speedy recovery for those personally affected by the virus and the businesses working to get through these hard times.

Slow the viruses spread by:

  • Following directions of State and Local Authorities.
  • Staying home and contacting your medical provider if you are feeling ill.
  • Self-quarantining your household for two weeks if there is someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within it.
  • Practicing social distancing especially if you may be elderly, have a compromised immune system, or underlying health conditions.

What is Essential vs. Non-essential

Since mandates have been released, there have been many questions regarding what type of businesses are considered essential verses non-essential as business owners or executives may not know where they may fall. Find out where you fall inline list of essential businesses as defined by the federal government.

eTrepid FREE Support

eTrepid is harnessing offers provided by partners and industry leaders such as Microsoft, Continuum, ID Agent, and CoreDail to provide remote work options and basic cyber hygiene so teleworkers can access business information securely from any location. Support will be accompanied by a Security Awareness Training for business personnel as well. The free support will be given on a first come first serve bases through June 30, 2020, to help businesses who need assistance setting-up remote working capabilities, as well as help businesses who are already set up for remote work but are having difficulty or may be working in unsecure online environments. Services will be provided with no strings attached.

Businesses can apply to receive services by visiting etrepid.com/covid19offer, complete a brief questionnaire, and schedule an appointment. Once complete, an eTrepid eTech Team representative will reach out to see how support can be best provided.

eTrepid's Operation Status

Your eTech Team will maintain services as our support teams continue to operate 24/7, globally. Falling under the Communications and Information Technology sector of the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers Memorandum provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency,  eTrepid has remained fully operational primarily providing remote support and remote project services during this time with a few adjustments. As "Stay at Home" orders are lifted and converted to "Safer at Home" advisories, we have started moving towards regular operations to include site visits while maintaining required precautions.

Keeping the health of your staff and clients in mind, each eTech Team member will have their temperature taken before entering eTrepid offices or conducting any onsite visits. A temperature of 100.4 F or greater is considered a fever. Therefore, any eTech Team member with a temperature of 100.4F or higher will be asked to stay home until the noted temperature has subsided. Additionally, each business will be contacted to gain permission for our eTech Team members to come on-site before they arrive on the premises. Our team will also continue to wear personal protective equipment including gloves and masks, include regular sanitizing habits, as well as practice social distancing while working. We will do everything in our power to follow the Roadmap to Recovery presented by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, as well as abide by regulations within various U.S. states and globally as needed.

Our offices in Mechanicsville, MD, Phoenix, AZ, and Noida, India will open slowly in line with legislative measures in the particular area.

Take a moment to review how your business may be supported.

We continue to ask for your patience during this process. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us and let us know what we can do to make these transitions easier on you and your team. The eTech Team is standing by to answer any question you may have.
