ThreatKrusher Pillar 05 · Cloud operations and shared responsibility

Understand the cloud responsibilities before planning a move.

Moving a workload to the cloud affects more than where it runs. It can change who administers it, how information moves, which systems connect, how it is supported and recovered, and who is responsible. Cloud helps the team identify these dependencies before committing to a path.

Cloud supports agreed planning, implementation, administration, integration, and operating work. Environment eligibility, provider commitments, migration results, availability, and compliance remain separate decisions.

Before you choose an environment

What must be true for this environment to be supportable, accountable, and reviewable?

Choosing a destination is only one part of the decision. The team also needs to agree on the environment boundary, owners, access, information flows, service dependencies, change process, recovery needs, and evidence for reviewing how it operates.

What Cloud organizes when contracted

Environment and ownership

Connect workloads, subscriptions or accounts, administrators, applications, information, dependencies, owners, and intended use to a defined operating boundary.

Administration and integration

Define the approved administration path, connected systems, service dependencies, change authority, configuration records, and escalation responsibilities.

Shared responsibility

Distinguish what the client retains, what eTrepid performs within agreed scope, and what a provider or other third party remains responsible for. A provider commitment does not remove customer operating responsibilities.

Change and lifecycle

Connect onboarding, migration, configuration, integration, maintenance, retirement, and exception decisions to accountable work and review.

Evidence and review

Maintain the records, assumptions, limitations, and review points needed to understand the current boundary and the effect of change.

Essential ecosystem dependencies

Access:

Connects identity, privilege, authorization, and review boundaries to administration and use.

ITSM:

Turns administration, changes, lifecycle, incidents, and provider coordination into accountable operating work.

Continuity:

Connects cloud dependencies to recovery priorities, response planning, and exercises.

Comply:

Connects relevant requirements, evidence, exceptions, and review decisions to the operating boundary.

Evidence boundary

Public pages should not contain tenant details, configuration exports, architecture diagrams, access lists, credentials, confidential contracts, client data, or security findings. Any example requires permission, appropriate redaction, stated scope and period, a reviewer, and a stated limitation.

Your next step

Start with the environment, the reason for the change, and who owns the dependencies.

In a working session, we can clarify the operating boundary, accountable roles, assumptions that need validation, and practical next action. If scheduling is not the right next step, you can send a request, call, or start a chat instead.
